Zip Money Is Being Retired
Zip is retiring the Zip Money product in New Zealand (Zip Money NZ). From 6 February 2026, Zip Money will no longer be available to make new purchases. Zip Pay in 4 is not changing. You can still use a Pay in 4 account as normal.
What’s changing?
From 6 February 2026, you cannot use Zip Money NZ to make new purchases.
If your account balance is $0 on 6 February 2026, Zip will close your Zip Money NZ account.
If you have an owing balance on your account on 6 February 2026, these changes will not affect that purchase(s). You will repay your owing balance according to the current terms of the product.
Why is Zip Money NZ being retired?
This change is being made to make Zip payment services simpler. There are no changes to Zip Pay in 4, which you can continue to use as normal.
Can I still make purchases using my Zip Money NZ account?
The last day to make a new purchase using your Zip Money NZ account is 5 February.
From 6 February 2026, you will not be able to make new purchases and if your account balance is $0 on that date we will close your Zip Money NZ account.
What happens if I have an owing balance on my Zip Money NZ account?
If you have an owing balance on your Zip Money NZ account on 6 February 2026:
- You will repay that purchase(s) as normal. Please make sure you have a valid payment method attached to your Zip account.
- When you have repaid your owing balance, we will close your Zip Money NZ account.
What do I need to do before my account is closed?
Once your account is closed, you will no longer be able to view your account information.
Please download any important information you may want to keep (such as your historic account statements) before:
- 6 February 2026 if you do not have an owing balance on your account; or
- Before you repay your total owing balance if you have an owing balance on your account after 6 February 2026 (your account will close once it is repaid).
How do I make repayments?
If you have an owing balance on your Zip Money NZ account, repayments will continue to be processed from your linked payment method. If your card number or bank account has changed, please update it before your next repayment.

Does this affect your other Zip account/s?
No, this change only relates to Zip Money NZ. Zip Pay in 4 in New Zealand and all Australian Zip accounts are not impacted by this change.
